Creating New Connections

Manually using Mac 8.x-9.x

Step 1 - TCP/IP Settings

Click on the Apple icon, select Control Panels, then TCP/IP.

Ensure you have Connect via: PPP and Configure Using: PPP server selected as shown below.

Close the window. When asked if you would like to save changes, select Yes.

Step 1 -Remote Access

Click on the Apple icon again. select Control Panels, then Remote Access. On some early versions of MacOS 8 the option is called PPP.

Enter your username in the Name field and your password in the field below your name. Enter your local access number in the Number field.

Click on the Options button, then click on the Protocol tab. Click to check the box for Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications. This will allow your computer to automatically dialup and connect when it senses it needs an Internet connection.

Click OK to close the Options window. When it asks if you would like to save changes, choose Yes.

Your computer is now setup to access the Internet.
