Changing Your COM port

Windows XP

Step 1 - Launch the Control Panel

Go to the Start Menu and click on Control Panel.

Step 2 - Phone and Modem Options

If you are viewing the Control Panel in Category View, you must first click on the Printers and Other Hardware icon.

Click on the Phone and Modem Options icon.

Step 3 - Modems Tab

From the Phone and Modem Options window, click on the Modems tab. Click the button that reads Properties.

Step 4 - Software Modem Properties

From the Software Modem Properties window, click on the Advanced tab. Click the button that reads Advanced Port Settings....

Step 4 - Advanced Port Settings

From the Advanced Port Settings window, select a new COM port from the drop down list found beside the text COM Port Number.

Click OK to save your changes.
